About Me

First of all..

First of all I want you to know that Eldred Grove is just me. I don’t have a team of writers. No PA, no photographer or accountant. All content created on my blog and social media channels is me, just me, with a lot of assistance from my long suffering wife to whom I owe a debt of gratitude, and without whom I wouldn’t be in the position I am today.

Brought up in a council estate in Suffolk by a single mother, I was creative from an early age. My Mother and Brother loved to draw, my Father and Uncle were actors (and strippers for a time) so I grew up in quite a creative environment. I was the kid that played with the box rather than what was inside. Always drawing, cutting, painting, making things, and also writing.

At school I had little interest, but was encouraged to write after my Teacher read some poetry that I’d created, and I kind of enjoyed it. It was therefore inevitable that I’d fall into something creative.

Eldred Grove began life in 2014 after getting an iPad for Christmas. GQ magazine had a list of ’10 apps to download on your new iPad’ One of them was Instagram. I downloaded it and proceeded to post pictures of my cat and dinner, just as everyone does. I then found that the more fashion inspired posts I shared, the more interest it received. Before long my page was a mens fashion page under the handle @RocksInSocks.

As things progressed I received a message from a follower asking me if I had a blog. At the time I didn’t, so I looked into setting one up. I signed up to the Blogger platform, changed my Instagram name, and That Dapper Chap was born.

That Dapper Chap and I had a few great years building the brand and working on some incredible projects. In 2018 I decided to rebrand, it was time to evolve, time to open doors to new possibilities and time to take things to the next level. If you’d like to know why I chose the name Eldred Grove, I explain all in a blog post.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I hope it’s given you some more insight into who I am and why I do what I do. I love this job and I’m really looking forward to the future with Eldred Grove. Thank you for your support.
