Craig gets a trim and a tidy at Huckle The Barber using products by Baxter of California, and reviews some of their products
With two shops in London Huckle the Barber are a men’s grooming space and barbers with no frills, no gimmicks and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Offering everything from beard trims, hair cuts, luxury facials and wet shaves, it’s a very cool place to freshen up. With my turn in the chair I was treated to a wash, cut, beard trim and wet shave with products by Baxter of California.
Well over due for a freshen up, my hair was washed and conditioned with Baxter shampoo and conditioner. Available from a number of outlets across the UK including Mankind, the range covers every aspect of your daily grooming routine.
Born out of LA, Baxter of California are a brand who create products for the modern man, and is inclusive of all kinds of modern masculinity. Their ‘Life Lived True’ campaigns puts the spotlight on a diverse range of men, all cast directly from the streets of LA.
Baxter of California Global General Manager Yann Joffredo says “Life Lived true is about being honest with yourself, embracing your imperfections, and not being afraid to showcase who you are as you experience life”
After a wash and a cut it was time to sort out my unruly beard. After a swift whip around with a shaver I was treated to the Baxter oil free moisturiser before a wet shave around my neck and cheeks with the Baxter super close shave cream.
So, freshened up it was time to make my way to an event in Manchester, and with an overnight stay at a Hotel it seemed appropriate to pack some of the Baxter range to see how they performed in the real world!
I love the invigorating body wash, it lathers really well and has a nice fresh masculine scent which isn’t overpowering. The daily face wash is very nice too but I’m not a huge fan of the stick deodorant, only because it’s a stick and I generally prefer a roll on. For me a stick deodorant dries much slower and can feel a little sticky (pardon the pun). Having said that, the facts that its free from irritants such as aluminium and alcohol makes it a good option for guys who suffer from sensitive skin.
I’m also a bit of a fan of the clay pomade, which happens to be the best selling product in the Baxter range. Scented with sage and citrus it gives a great subtle fragrant finish to your hair and isn’t sticky or heavy.
Now all I had left to do was don my glad rags, and it was time to party! Have you tried products from Baxter of California? What do you think of them? Maybe you’re new to the brand and want to try something new? Either way I’d love to hear your thoughts to please feel free to leave a comment below.
