Timex celebrates 40th anniversary

Craig joins Timex to celebrate their 40th anniversary and to view their new range of anniversary watches

Arriving at BEAT London, just off Oxford Street, we grabbed a drink and set about helping Timex to celebrate their 40th anniversary and the launch of the 40th Anniversary Easy Reader Collection. The collection features a cool little twist on the standard INDIGLO® light and when you press the bezel the face lights up with a big ’40’ which is a really nice touch.

Available in four different colour options these special watches are available online right now at at £69.99 each.

In addition to the anniversary collection, Timex also showed off the new Fairfield Contactless watch which is brand spanking new for AW17, and a new venture for the brand. Powered by bpay, Fairfield Contactless will be the first in the collection.

The new contactless straps will be available in black or brown, and will also be available to buy separately allowing you to switch up your existing Timex.

bPay enables wearers to make safe and fast purchases of £30 and under at over 490,000 locations across the UK. Wearers will also be able to track their spending, top up their balance,
and take control of their contactless payments using the dedicated bPay app or website.

“We are thrilled to be launching our newest innovation in wearable technology and partnering with bPay,” said Duncan Harris, TIMEX UK Sales & Marketing Director. “The functionality of the Fairfield Contactless watch gives our consumer the option of hands free payment, whilst retaining the timeless character of this classic chronograph watch. We are excited at the possibilities this technology offers consumers in payment solutions and will continue to work with our partners in bringing this to more of our collection”.

Tami Hargreaves, Director of Innovation and Partnerships at Barclaycard Mobile Payments adds: “bPay is designed to meet the needs of time-pressed shoppers who are increasingly looking for
easy and convenient ways to pay for everyday goods and services. September marks the 10th anniversary of Barclaycard introducing contactless payments to the UK and our partnership with
TIMEX represents another exciting way ‘touch and go’ technology can be simply and stylishly integrated into fashion and accessories.”

These new watches will be available at www.timex.co.uk and www.endclothing.com early November 2017 for £159.

My very first “grown up” watch was a Timex (more years ago than I care to confess). The brand has been my first choice ever since. Currently I have a ladies Timex Expedition (one of the Indiglo range), with a proper leather strap that has seen both sides of the Atlantic, been kidnapped (and retrieved) by grandchildren, and is generally still going in style. I hope Timex has another 40 years!
