Craig shows us a look perfect for a British Autumn from Hammond & Co at Debenhams
The leaves have turned their ochre’s and russets and conkers and chestnuts line the floor of the woods in the park. It just has to be Autumn. Time for thicker fabrics and layering, time for scarves, gloves and hats. My favourite season.
Today’s look is entirely from the Hammond & Co range at Debenhams. Anyone who has followed my blog for a while knows that I’m a massive fan of the looks that Patrick Grant gives us each season.
I’ll start from the ground up. While these boots have been around for a while they are still available online. They are the brown leather ‘Surrey’ lace up boots and are £100 and I love mine. The tan colour is perfect for this season and they’re really comfortable to wear.
As with the boots, this blazer isn’t part of the latest range, but it is still available. It’s the Navy Checked Blazer and is currently on sale, so go grab a bargain! It’s typical Hammond & Co with the vintage style check fabric and the customary shield lapel pin.
Under the blazer I’m wearing the Navy Checked collared waistcoat which is £55.00. Waistcoats are a great option for layering, they look super smart, even with jeans and keep a look dapper.
The waistcoat is worn over the navy puppytooth long sleeved shirt, online now for £45.00. It’s a shirt that you can dress up or down. Wear it under a sharp blue suit and add a smart tie for a boardroom meeting or throw it on with a plain white T-shirt and jeans at the weekend. Wear it open, and roll up the sleeves for a casual look.
The jeans are the dark blue mid wash slim jeans, which are a great fit and feel really comfortable to wear. Every guy needs a great fitting smart pair of jeans in their armoury and these are just the ticket.
Every look needs accessories, and this one is no different. Lets start with the navy silk daisy pre-tied bow tie. Now I’m less of a fan of a pre-tied bow tie than a self tie, but I get that a lot of guys don’t know how to tie one which makes wearing one less appealing. So that said I’d rather you wear a pre-tied bow tie than not wear one at all! A lot of guys shy away from a bow tie but they have become more fashionable and more acceptable to wear, so give one ago.
Wrist wear is in the form of some bead bracelets and my classic Nelson Martina watch which I tend to wear a lot.
As hats go, I struggle with trilby’s and fedoras and think they make me look like a complete idiot. I have neither the face nor the stature to pull of one of those easily, and while some guys look great in them, I have resigned myself to the fact that I do not and probably never will!
A flat cap, baker boy or newsboy hat is a different story however and I prefer how they look on me. Patrick Grant is a fan of these too and there is always one available in his collection. There are currently two available, one in black and one, like mine, in grey. At £30 this wool blend baker boy hat is going to last you a few years.
While Hammond & Co offer a great range of leather briefcases, this one isn’t a Hammond & Co bag, but by a company called Niche Lane. This is the classic tan briefcase and it’s a bit of a fave of mine.
I hope you like the look that I’ve put together for you. Are you a Hammond & Co fan? Maybe you’re new to Hammond & Co and have a question. Either way, please feel free to leave a comment below to share your thoughts.
