New fragrances from Jo Malone

Craig reviews the English Oak & Hazelnut cologne, Oud and Bergamot dry body oil and the Incense and Embers candle from Jo Malone.

With the nights drawing in, that crispness in the early morning air and the leaves turning their rich reds and browns, it can only mean one thing: Autumn is knocking. Time for layering, thicker fabrics, sweaters and boots. But when you plan your Autumn wardrobe, don’t forget to review your fragrance too as the fresh floral and watery summer scents just won’t work as well in the new season.

This is why I want to share the English Oak & Hazelnut Cologne and the Oud and Bergamot Dry Body Oil from Jo Malone as they are both perfect fragrances for fall.

All of Jo Malone’s products come wonderfully gift wrapped and my items were no exception. So, if you’re looking for a gift, rest assured that anything that you buy from Jo Malone will look the part and the recipient will be just as impressed by the classy packaging as they will by the product.

With a top note of green hazelnuts, a heart of Cedarwood and a base note of roasted oak the English Oak & Hazelnut Cologne is an immediate new favourite fragrance. The fragrance is both deep and masculine, warm and woody but not over powering. At £88 for 100ml it’s a great cologne and would be perfect as a gift.

The scent is more classic than modern and it can also be combined with other Jo Malone fragrances so that you can create your own unique scent.

Also in my set came the Oud and Bergamot Dry Body Oil. I have to confess that I have never used a body oil and tend not to moisturise my skin so this was a new experience for me. I am a huge fan of Oud and it’s rich, intense scent. Jo Malone have combined it with the fresh and uplifting scent of Bergamot, giving it a citrussy element, adding a freshness and lightness to what could easily have been a heavy fragrance.

I was slightly concerned that the oil would feel greasy and leave my shirt sticking to me like a sweaty chef in a hot kitchen, but I was mistaken. The oil is very easily absorbed into the skin and it leaves the skin smooth and nourished. At £52 for 100ml it’s a nice product, and the scent is great.

What better on a wet and cold Autumn evening than to pour a glass of whiskey and relax in front of the fire by the light of the flames and a flickering candlelight. To make the experience even more warm and welcoming Jo Malone have created the perfect Autumn candle in the form of Incense and Embers. The scent conjures images of smokey bonfires, toffee apples and thick woolly sweaters.

So, light the candle, put some chestnuts on the fire and relax into Autumn with these new fragrances from Jo Malone.
